1. Marcela Guerra (Pitang)

Titulo: "Liderando projetos de desenvolvimento de software:dificuldades e desafios para as mulheres"

Resumo: Liderar um grupo de indivíduos em prol de um objetivo comum é uma tarefa árdua no dia-a-dia dos projetos de desenvolvimento de software. Quando analisamos o contexto de uma mulher exercendo o papel de líder, novos desafios surgem além dos enfrentados normalmente. O objetivo dessa sessão é apresentar a visão da palestrante sobre as principais dificuldades e desafios enfrentados pelas mulheres em um papel de liderança em projetos de desenvolvimento.

Bio: Possui experiência de aproximadamente 15 anos na área de TI,atuando em projetos de desenvolvimento de software. Na Pitang desde 2005, atuando como gerente de projetos e um dos responsáveis pela adaptação do processo de desenvolvimento da empresa ao uso de metodologias ágeis. Atualmente lidera o grupo responsável (SEPG) pela evolução deste processo. Mestre em Ciência da Computação pela Universidade Feral de Pernambuco, Certificada Scrum Alliance  Scrum Master – CSM e Scrum Alliance  Scrum Product Owner – CSPO e PMI-Agile Certified Practitioner.

2. Gisele Pinheiro Souza (Schlumberger)

Título: Mulheres em posições de gerencia

Resumo: Ser gerente de projetos não é uma tarefa fácil. Várias habilidades são necessárias para um gerente, tais como saber lidar com diferenças culturais, motivar o time, organizar tarefas e saber lidar com pressão.  Na área de computação que é predominantemente masculina, ser gerente é ainda mais desafiador para as mulheres. Essa sessão versará sobre a experiência de uma mulher como líder de desenvolvimento e gerente de equipes majoritariamente masculinas.

Bio: Gisele Pinheiro Souza (Schlumberger) iniciou sua carreira como desenvolvedora de software em 2006 trabalhando em diferentes multinacionais. Em 2009 começou atuar como líder de desenvolvimento. Ingressou na Schlumberger em 2010 e desde 2011 é gerente de projeto.

Graduada pela UFRGS (2006) com sanduíche de um ano na École nationale supérieure d'informatique et de mathématiques appliquées (ENSIMAG –Grenoble, França). Mestre em computação pela UFRGS (2013) na área de sistemas distribuídos.

3. Brian Zaki (Google)

Title: "Female Representation in Information Technology: Global Perspective, Challenges, and Opportunities"

Resumo: There's a well-documented shortage of women in both tech-focused careers and academic programs. In this session, we'll explore the origins, trends, and global intricacies of this shortage, as well as strategies to encourage and increase female representation. We'll also discuss the benefits of establishing and maintaining a diverse workforce.

Bio: Brian Zaki is Google's Principal Engineering Recruiter for Latin America and Engineering University Programs Manager for Brazil. He's worked for Google (in New York and Belo Horizonte) for the past 7.5 years, and possesses 16 years of technical recruiting experience. Prior to joining Google, Brian served as an independent consultant to financial services, telecommunications, and new media organizations.

He received his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Binghamton University in 1997.

4. Juliana Salles (Senior Research Program Manager, Microsoft Research Connections)

Title: Mulheres em carreiras técnicas: aonde estamos e para onde vamos

Bio: Juliana Salles is Microsoft Research Connections’ senior research program manager in Brazil, where she engages with academics to identify globally critical, high-impact research projects. She is currently working on projects that use technology to enable or accelerate knowledge in such areas as tropical environments and their response to climate change, bioenergy, and biodiversity. She is also leading initiatives to attract and retain women in computing in Latin America. Juliana has a PhD in human-computer interaction and since joining Microsoft has worked as a UX researcher for several product teams, including Visual Studio, Windows Live, and Windows Live Mobile. Her interests include user research techniques and methodology and their integration with the software development process.

Introducing the WIT

              WIT (Women in Information Technology) is a workshop devoted to the discussion of topics related to questions that relate gender equity to Information Technology in Brazil: successful stories, incentive policies and ways of attracting young people, specially women, to IT careers. Comprised of invited lectures and panels, the workshop’s main goal is to open a debate over problems related to women and their access to IT, from the job market point of view up to the digital inclusion and Academy. Our intended audience is composed by: students,

IT professionals, lectures, researchers interested on such subjects.

            It is in this spirit that we welcome you as a keynote speaker. We are very excited to share your experiences and hear your thoughts on theabove issues, that are so important to our community.
WIT2013 will take place in Maceio, Brazil. During the Conference of Brazilian Computer Society. It will take during one day of the event(which will still be defined, between 23 and 26 of july de 2013).
